Doom Log

Before Desert People was even an idea, I spent most of my time skateboarding and filming my friends. Eventually, when we got enough footage, I would make those clips into a full length skate video. It sounds crazy to say but this was pre YouTube so the way we got these videos around was by DVDs. As time passed and I had put a few of the parts on YouTube, the in-between stuff was missing from public view. Being a skateboarder from the mid-90s to now I noticed there wasn’t a whole lot of accessible El Paso Skateboarding Archiving. Plainly put, it seemed as if the spirit of each “EP Skate” period would disappear with each skate shop closure or skateboarder quitting. How would the younger generations build upon what the others had done before? How would we honor the memory of times that seemed so important to anyone that picked up a skateboard in El Paso? I know it’s not much but I figured if I could contribute anything, it would be glimpse into our little skateboarding world. These are the Doomlogs.
